Many people wonder how the choir started. It was an unlikely start.
In May 2025, an advert was circulated to farming groups on social media asking: Are you a Farmer? Can you Sing? Are you available on this date? We had no idea who it was for, but 500 people responded and sent in auditions. 40 or so of us were selected and sent some words to learn and some simple tunes. We were also asked to assemble at The Farmers Dog. At that point the penny dropped!
We were going to record some sound-tracks for some lager and cider adverts for Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper.
The words were a bit sweary and the resulting adverts went viral on social media.
As a bunch of farmers we had a lot of fun on a day off from the farm, singing, chatting and drinking the odd beer. We then went home, back to our farms.
We thought that was it! But it wasn't!
Gwen Woodruffe (who tuned out to be an Alto) had the foresight to add us into a WhatsApp group, so when back home we all started chatting together and sharing our stories. Not much happened for months, we were thinking we might go back to the pub to sing some Christmas Carols if we were invited, but then a message came through asking if we'd like to go on BGT - The rest is history!
